The adventures of a motley crew in search of an elusive prey, The Hunting of the Snark is a fantasy that sails along on magical language, surreal images, and an undercurrent of sly humor. Frequently asked to reveal the meaning of The Hunting of the Snark, Carroll declared himself at a loss to explain what the voyage represented, conceding only that "words mean more than we mean to express when we use them".
